There is a lot of buzz about startups these days. Almost every day we hear about a new tech startup that’s disrupting one industry or another. But, yours is different. It really is changing the world! How do you break through the noise to get your company noticed by both customers and investors? And, how do you do it on a limited budget?
On September 26, Communo is hosting the Marketing and Growth for Startups panel at Vancouver Startup Week 2018. This will be an engaging and value-driven session with three of our members who are experts in their respective fields of marketing/branding, fundraising and public relations. All three disciplines must work together to communicate your unique value proposition to both investors and your customers.

Angelia Darnbrough is the Principal of Pivot Point Marketing. With over two decades of marketing experience with large and small companies, Angelia loves to focus in on the high technology and software sectors where marketing is fast-paced and constantly undergoing change. Using her process of People2People marketing, she connects customers to products and services by establishing an emotional connection that makes them memorable.
Cory Cleveland builds investor experiences that matter. His agency, Creative Return focuses exclusively on creating actionable and engaging investor experiences for public and pre-public companies. He has strategized and co-managed over $50 million in early-stage financings, taking ventures from inception through to high-volume public listings. The focus on investor marketing is compelled by a decade of successes and failures and a desire to help others secure and maintain the right capital for their companies.
Jessica Harcombe Fleming is a public relations lead with Beattie Tartan, an international communications firm with offices in Vancouver, Toronto and Calgary. She has 15 years of experience in marketing, content creation, influencer and media relations. Her career has spanned roles with entrepreneurial startups, the outdoor industry and health and wellness. Jessica creates authentic stories that create awareness and drive conversion.
Jason Takefman is a small business and sports independent consultant. Jason has over 12 years of experience in content marketing, ghostwriting and managing corporate partnerships. He was GM for the Vancouver Canadians and has worked with the UFC and Vancouver Canucks. Jason has been a Communo member for almost two years and credits it for helping him grow as an entrepreneur through mentorship and its strong peer membership.
