The building is located in the heart of Fremont, an area home to many forward-thinking businesses and innovative technology companies. It’s quickly becoming a hot spot for creative and design agencies attracted to the dynamic spirit of collaboration and eclectic mix of shops, restaurants and music venues. The co-working space offers unique features for creatives including colorful artwork on the walls, a collab-a-tree area and a rooftop deck.
Behind ShiftUp is Eben Greene, a local entrepreneur and founder of long-time Seattle creative agency United Creations, which is relocating from its office space in Green Lake, where it has operated since 1996. It’s partnered with Communo, a new Canadian startup that launched in Seattle in June, to offer preferred pricing for members of the creative platform.
“Eben knows first hand the burden of trying to align agency operating costs with the variable revenues and runs his agency on an agile staffing model like other Communo members. His values and experiences align very closely with our memberships and he is a strong advocate for sharing economics,” says Patrick Orr, Communo’s VP of Marketing and Growth.
Greene says his agency is on the threshold of change and he’s decided to pursue a more flexible agency model. United Creations will merge into ShiftUp, a creative change agency, in early November.
“We’re really trying to have a co-working /collective environment for our agency and so it makes sense to build a relationship with Communo. We’re starting to rev up on a lot of projects and we want to have access to professionals who are vetted and who we trust, so we’re not scrambling to find people,” says Greene.
The co-working space is offering preferred pricing to Communo members who offer high-skilled marketing, advertising and creative services specializations. Greene says packages will be customized for the unique needs of creatives, whether that be dropping in several times a month or having a dedicated desk.
“ShiftUp is developed with the unique needs of creative partnerships and collaborations,” he says Greene. “We’re excited to offer a more energizing place, where people can have fun, get feedback and potentially work together on shared projects,” he says.
